Handfasting is a beautiful, symbolic marriage ceremony, or ritual, and is believed to span several cultures dating back thousands of years. However, it is widely accepted as being of ancient Celtic origin and a nature-related ritual with a spiritual tradition. The phrase "tying the knot" and the action of shaking someone's hand to agree to something, are probably derived from this action of binding the couples hands together, often with coloured ribbon or cord to symbolize their union of love.
This handfasting cord is woven with lovely black and white polyester satin cords. I have added a 1 1/2 inch silver charm (#24), but it be adorned with a charm of your choice. It measures 6 feet in length and is 7/8 inch wide.
I make all of my handfasting cords myself in a smoke free home. I do, however, have a dog and she is with me constantly.
I have other colours of cord available as indicated in the last photo and can customize your handfasting cord to suit you. Just indicate your selection at check out or send me a message.
