Handfasting is a beautiful, symbolic marriage ceremony, or ritual, and is believed to span several cultures dating back thousands of years. However, it is widely accepted as being of ancient Celtic origin and a nature-related ritual with a spiritual tradition. The phrase "tying the knot" and the action of shaking someone's hand to agree to something, are probably derived from this action of binding the couples hands together, often with coloured ribbon or cord to symbolize their union of love.

This handfasting cord is woven with lovely turquoise blue, ivory, gold and light olive polyester satin cords.     It measures 7 feet in length and is 5/8 inch wide.

I have other cord colours and can customize your handfasting cord.  Just indicate your choice at checkout.

I make these cords in a smoke free home.  My lovely dog, Lola, is with me constantly and although I endeavour to make these free of her hair there may be some dog hairs floating through the air that find themselves attached to the cords.  If you find any, I apologize.
